This foundational training is ideal for serious students of yoga wishing to profoundly deepen their practice and aspiring teachers alike.

About the Program

Our program is rooted in the lineage of Krishnamacharya, blending the Vinyasa flow, internal form, and intelligent progression found in the Ashtanga system, the precise alignment instructions and supported poses of the Iyengar system, and the modifications to the individual that Desikachar emphasized.

We will focus on:

  • The Theory & Practice of Yoga (intensive asana, philosophy, pranayama and meditation study)
  • Therapeutic Applications (learn to teach alignment based yoga as you gain a strong understanding of anatomy & physiology as applied to yoga asana.
  • Art of Teaching (gain the confidence and tools to be an effective teacher using voice, body language, gentle assists, & the art of sequencing, as you practice teaching.

We are very proud of our long-time training program, and it is greatly respected in the Portland community & abroad.  We have placed teachers at studios across the country, and at all of the major Portland studios including People's Yoga, Yoga Pearl, Yoga Shala, Yoga on Yamhill, Mandala, Santosha, Sellwood Yoga, Imagine Yoga Studio, Yoga Bhoga,  and of course, most of our Yoga Space staff have taken both our 200 and 300plus (500 hr) programs. 

Tuition:     $3300- In Person:  (6 month payment plans available at $3500)

A few places for online only are available at $2500 tuition.  

Upon acceptance, there is a $300 non-refundable deposit to hold your place.   Application Deadline:  October 5, 2021

Refund policy:  No refunds after October 1st unless we can find a replacement for your spot. 

Training Staff

Michele Loew will lead the majority of this weekend format training with support from Ian LeMasters, and our wonderful Yoga Space staff.  Meditation training will be led by Michele Loew, and Anatomy training by Ian Lemasters.  

Schedule Overview

The 5 month training will take place primarily on weekends: Friday nights from 7-8:45pm;  Saturdays from 11-1pm & 2-4pm; Sundays from 11-1pm  & 2-6pm.    All sessions will take place at the NW studio for in person attendance, and will be livestreamed for remote viewing possibility.  Some sessions on anatomy, or philosophy will be zoomed.  

During the course of the training, students will have access to unlimited classes with Michele Loew on zoom, and a 20% discount on studio class cards for all other studio classes both in-person and zoomed.

Orientation, philosophy, light asana, yoga Nidra, Standing poses connecting to earth, Tadasana & samasthtih, linking pattern of breath with movement.  1st 3 positions of Suryanamaskar A, 
Weekend 2: 
October 15, 16, 17
Standing Poses & Downward Facing Dog study, assists, and alternatives, anatomy of the legs and feet, sitting practice alignment.  Yoga Sutras  Chapters 1 & 2  Meditation.

Weekend 3:

Forward Bends, Anatomy of the pelvis, back body muscles and fascial lines;  Yoga Sutras; Sankyha Philosophy.   Principles of Teaching.  
Weekend 4:

Back bending with ease, principles and assists. Teaching Practicum.  Yoga Sutras, Anatomy of psoas, spine, hip flexors and extensors.  
Weekend 5:

Hip Openers, Marichayasanas; anatomy of hip joint and knee; Bhagavad Gita. Teaching Practicum. Meditation.
Weekend 6: 
December 3, 4, 5
Twisting poses; anatomy of the core muscles, Beginning Pranayama.  Bhagavad Gita Chapters 7-10
Weekend 7: 
January 7, 8, 9
 Art of sequencing a flow-based class; Beginning Inversions; Sarvangasana and Sirsasana cycles. Anatomy of the head, neck, accessing the core line. Bhagavad Gita,  Teaching Practicum. Assisting in class.  
Weekend 8:

Handstands, shoulder and wrist anatomy,  Teaching Practicum, Meditation.
Weekend 9:

Arm Balances,  Teaching Practicum, Sequencing, Sanskrit primer, Meditation; Tantra philosophy chakras, nadis, comparative Buddhist Philosophy.  

Weekend 10:
